The final open home is on Thursday November 17th 5-5:30pm and the auction is Saturday 19 th November at 12pm. The houses are behind the Architecture, Building and Engineering School (L Block) – accessible off Parry Street. The profits are given to United Way, which then distributes to Otago charities. They took 10 months to complete.Ībout 25 sponsors have helped out, some have even provided materials and labour at no cost. All three were built by Otago Polytechnic building students under the tutelage of the lecturers. There are actually three houses up for auction: two 4-bedroom houses, and one 3-bedroom house. The house gives building students an opportunity to learn some necessary skills, and give to charity at the same time! This is the tenth year for the event, which has made more than $820,000 for charity over the past decade. Charity House 2016 (November 16 2016) Otago Polytechnic’s charity house is open for viewing and ready for auction on Sunday 19th November.
